The book is a true story about a Mother coming to terms with her only son coming out as gay. The book features the lyrics to 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' from The Wizard of Oz. I wanted to capture the black and white to colour transition that the movie has, but translate it into the journey of Julie from sadness and denial to complete acceptance. I guess she could be symbolised as the bluebird flying over the rainbow.
